Have you heard about the campaign for a new natural play ground in Bristol? It’s a fantastic project and the fundraising campaign is in the final stretch. With 9 more days to go, the committee is just $305 away from their $11,000 goal!
If you’ve visited Bristol lately, you know that the current play space includes two sets of swings over 50 years old and a climber that no longer meets national or ADA standards (yikes!). The Bristol Green Playground Committee was formed in the spring of 2013 by the Bristol Recreation Department, the Bristol Downtown Community Partnership (BDCP) and community members from the surrounding five town area to evaluate the current playground structures on the town green and propose a plan for renovation and upgrades. Since the spring, the committee has been working hard to bring a vision of an updated play space accessible to all ages and abilities, that would include separate areas for toddlers, school-age and older kids, and a natural playscape area for everyone, to fruition! With a design in hand, the committee is now asking the community at large for financial support. If you live near Bristol, or visit with small children, please consider donating to this valuable project.

*So, we’ve been bombarding you with fundraising and donation ideas this week and we know that it may have gotten annoying…. In hindsight, we realize we should have given this week some sort of clever name and warned you that our posts would focus on giving rather than receiving this week. But truthfully, the posts grew organically from reader’s requests, so we were just as surprised as you by the number of fundraising campaigns/drives going on now. We promise this post will be the last one for a while!*
