Addison County is home to lots of great playgrounds. You’ll find most are accessible year round and great for kids of all ages!
MiniBury’s personal favorite, the East Middlebury playground, is probably the least well-known in the area, but offers a great array of equipment that caters to both the big-kid daredevils and the little minis. Bonus: Picnic tables in the shade and a black top for an impromptu b-ball game, sidewalk chalk, or first laps without training wheels. Location: School House Road, East Middlebury
Formally KidSpace, now named “Hawk Zone,” located at Mary Hogan Elementary School in Middlebury, is a weekend only space (pictured left). That said, it’s not to be missed as it’s quite massive. The playground was built in 2015, has handicapped access. The black top is great for wheeled riding toys. There are also swings and sports fields. Bonus: There is a mini-kid zone too for those not quite ready for the big playground. Location: Mary Hogan Drive, Middlebury
Near to the “Hawk Zone” is the Middlebury Recreation Park, which is equipped with a small fenced playground (pictured with snow). This is a perfect baby/toddler playground, as it’s enclosed and small in scale. Bonus: Close parking (and lots of it) means toddlers can make the trip from the car to the playground without a lift from mom or dad. Location: Mary Hogan Drive, Middlebury
Bristol Green now boasts a new playground that’s beautiful in design and execution. Features handicapped ramp to slides, a toddler playground, swings and unique monkey bars. Plenty of parking and near by shops for snacks make this an easy day trip for those coming from out of town. Location: Bristol town green
