Welcome to this weeks #tbt, our best kept secret – chocolate edition, ensured to warm you up, satisfy your cravings and introduce you to our absolutely favorite local hangout!

IMG_7606.JPGIt has been just about forever since we let you in on a little secret around here, so today we’re finally sharing another local Best Kept Secret! Have you found yourself looking for….

  • The perfect after school snack/treat spot?
  • A great venue for a professional meeting?
  • The next great location for your weekly daily coffee date?
  • A relaxing atmosphere to unwind and unplug?
  • Delicious treats?

Then, Middlebury Chocolates is the place to go! The “pro” list is overflowing, so let’s cut right to the chase, the smell aroma, oh man, it’s intoxicating in the most amazing way possible. It’s quiet IMG_7597.JPGliterally edible. Middlebury Chocolates is owned and operated by Andy & Stephanie Jackson, who roast, grind, mold and package all the chocolate by hand in the beautiful space (hence the aforementioned intoxicating smell). The chocolates themselves are intensely flavorful and exotic, taking the eating experience from mundane to otherworldly.

Speaking of space, since Andy and Stephanie are parents as well chocolate makers, they designed the physical space to be as kid friendly as possible,IMG_7600.JPG knowing that their littles would be spending plenty of time “working” too. When we visited, our kids were instantly drawn to the chalk wall, which gave us parents a time to sit back and relax (major bonus). The physical lay out is also open enough that kids have room to move around without bumping into anything. The decor is simple and (thankfully) again kid friendly (read: unbreakable). Same goes for the tables, sturdy yet aesthetically pleasing. The result overall, kids love it and adults too.

Finally, let them make you a drink… so far we’ve tried the hot chocolates and milk shakes, and can honestly say, yum. We’ve heard their coffee drinks are also to die for, but don’t have first hand experience yet. Don’t worry though, we’ll go back and send along an update*. The chocolate bars, again are otherworldly as are all the hand-made treats that have come our way.

IMG_7602.JPGOh yea, and the view…. not to shabby either! Congrats to Middlebury Chocolates, another one of Middlebury’s Best Kept Secrets!

Want to share a secret spot, let us know!

*update, you’ll be happy to know, their coffee rocks too.

Eliza, MiniBury Founder

Hello, I’m Eliza. I founded MiniBury in 2012 because I had a hunch that I wasn't the only parent in Addison County missing fun family friendly events. I love the challenge of finding and sharing information about our community to other parents.
