Next Tuesday, February 25ᵗʰ the Addison Central Supervisory Union (UD-3) meeting will be held in the Middlebury High School gym at 6:30 p.m.. Residents of Bridport, Cornwall, Weybridge, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham and Middlebury are all urged to come listen and cast their VOTE. The primary purpose of the evening will be to decide by VOICE VOTE whether to ratify the agreement between the UD-3 Board and the Town of Middlebury to allow for the construction of the new Gym on Creek Road. In other words, this vote determines whether or not Middlebury can move forward with a new Town Office. The fate of this important project will be in the hands of those individuals physically present Tuesday.
There are many strong opinions regarding this topic and while we don’t feel the need to voice our own here, we do want to STRONGLY encourage you attend this crucial meeting. You will NOT have another chance to vote. Please come out and pass the word to your friends; the consequences of this vote will effect residents of all the surrounding towns, not just Middlebury.
Parent of girls take note of this author discussion happening tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the McCullough Social Space, Middlebury College. The talk is open and appropriate for both parents and teenagers.
Award-winning author Courtney E. Martin will explore how women today have come to dangerously define success as “effortless perfection.” Drawing on her critically acclaimed book Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters, she will argue that disordered eating, food and fitness obsession, and anxiety disorders have become normal among today’s college women. Further, she will sound a call to action to women on campus to settling for self-hate and start changing the world.
All ACSU schools are canceled tomorrow due to the impending snow storm. All after-school activities today are also canceled. Stay safe, everyone!
